There’s something really special about welcoming someone into Linmay Studio for the first time. Whether you’re looking for a subtle refresh, a little refinement, or an
entirely new direction with your color, we want you to feel comfortable, confident, and excited about your appointment.
If you’re new around here, here’s a little guide to what you can expect before, during, and after your first visit.
Before Your Appointment: A Little Homework
When you book your first color appointment at Linmay Studio, your new client consultation and color service are all wrapped into one visit.
After booking, you’ll receive a questionnaire to help us get to know you, your hair history, your goals, and what you’re hoping to achieve.
We ask that you fill it out and send along a couple of photos to hello@linmaystudio.com before your appointment. Inspiration photos are always welcome, too!
This gives Lindsay a chance to get familiar with your hair before you arrive, so we can spend more time collaborating and less time starting from scratch.
Finding Us: A Little Hidden Gem
First things first: give yourself a few extra minutes to find us!
Linmay Studio is a little tucked away, and that’s part of its charm.
You’ll find our sign on the brick building facing Chicago Avenue, along with a small flag sign extending from the building on the Kedzie side. Whether you’re walking up or down Kedzie, keep an eye out for that sign and our tucked-away glass door.
Once you find us, come on in!
Come In, Get Cozy, Stay Awhile
When you arrive, make yourself at home.
Grab a seat on the couch, settle in, and let us get you something to drink. We offer sparkling water in assorted flavors, tea, and coffee.
Listen to the music, take in the space, and enjoy a little moment to yourself.
Linmay Studio is intentionally intimate. It’s a place where you can relax, connect, and feel like yourself.
One of our favorite things about this little studio is the people who find their way here. It’s not uncommon for clients to strike up conversations, discover mutual friends, or leave feeling like they’ve made a new one.
It’s a small world, and somehow Linmay Land seems to attract some pretty wonderful, like-minded humans.
Let’s Talk Hair
When it’s time for your appointment, Lindsay will bring you over to her chair, and we’ll get into the good stuff.
We’ll revisit your questionnaire, look through your inspiration photos, talk about your hair history, and explore what’s possible.
Maybe you’re looking to soften your grow-out, blend your grays, brighten your blonde, deepen your brunette, or simply bring your current color back to life.
Whatever brought you here, we’ll work together to create a plan that feels like you.
Then Lindsay will head off to mix your color, and you get to settle in.
Your Time, Your Way
Here’s something we want you to know: there’s no pressure to entertain us.
Want to chat the entire appointment? We love that.
Want to bring a book, catch up on something, or enjoy a little quiet time? We love that, too.
This is your time.
We believe a salon appointment can be more than just getting your hair done. It can be a little pocket of your day where someone takes care of you.
And if you happen to make a new friend along the way, even better.
The Big Reveal (And Everything After)
Once your color is finished and your hair is styled, we’ll take a moment to look at everything together.
How does it feel? How does it look? Does it feel like you?
We’ll talk through the finished result, make sure you’re happy, and, with your permission, maybe snap a few photos of your beautiful new hair.
We’ll also walk you through how to care for your color at home, including the shampoos, conditioners, and styling products we used, along with recommendations for keeping your hair looking its best.
We’ll talk about maintenance, how often you might want to come back, and what your next appointment could look like.
And if you’re ready, we’ll get that next visit on the books.
A Few Final Details
We use Square for booking and checkout, so we’ll typically already have your card on file. You’re always welcome to use a different card if you prefer.
Gratuity is included in all of our service pricing. No tipping math, no awkward checkout moment. Just one less thing to think about.
If you’ve fallen in love with any of the products we used during your visit, we’ll help you find the right ones to bring home.
Then we’ll send you bouncing out the door with your beautiful hair, whether we’ve simply refined what you already loved or taken things in a completely new direction.
